After affirming that he requires surgery on his injured knee, the Pittsburgh Steelers have ruled quarterback Ben Roethlisberger outside for the rest of the year.
37, roethlisberger, sustained the injury while attempting a pass in the second quarter of Sunday’s 28-26 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks at home.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin stated:”Ben Roethlisberger had an MRI on his right elbow Sunday day and it had been ascertained by the Steelers’ medical team that surgery will be required.
“We expect the surgery will likely be scheduled for this week. He will be placed on our own Reserve/Injured List and is out for the time .”
The Steelers have been 0-2 to start the season for the second time in Roethlisberger career.
A third-round pick from the 2018 draft, mason Rudolph, entered the game with Roethlisberger harm and completed 12 of 19 passes for 112 yards with one interception and two touchdowns.
Rudolph becomes the starter this week to the Steelers, who perform the San Francisco 49ers.
Roethlisberger, who led the NFL signed an extension in March that conducts through 2021.
