2019 Kentucky Derby betting reaction: Can Country House claim the Triple Crown?

History was made on Saturday in the 2019 Kentucky Derby when Maximum Security won the race by 1??3/4 lengths but was disqualified and placed 17th for interference — marking the first time a first-place horse has been disqualified on course from the 145-year history of this race. Country House, a 65-1 longshot, was announced the winner.
Maximum Security and jockey Luis Saez broke nicely and glided comfortably over the off moving, carving out fractions of 22.31 for the 1/4 mile and hitting the 1/2 in 46.62.
The duo was still on the lead as the area made their way through the far turn, but they came out a bit and bumped with War Of Will, that was on the horse’s outdoors. He slightly impeded second-place finisher Country House and jockey Flavien Prat, and the rider started an objection.
After a 20-minute decision by the Churchill stewards, Maximum Security was disqualified and 65/1 shot Country House was awarded the win as the second-biggest longshot in Kentucky Derby history.
Code Of Honor was put next, Tacitus third and Improbable fourth.
Following the disqualification, Country House trainer Bill Mott won his first Kentucky Derby, and he was ecatstic after the race.
“It seems pretty damn great,” he explained in the aftermath of this decision. “It had been an odd means to do it. It was a bittersweet victory, and I am thrilled for all of the connections.”
The final time for your 1??1/4 mile event was 2:03.93 within a track listed as sloppy.
As for any Triple Crown consequences, this race has been cluttered. . .and I do not only mean the weather. I could see Maximum Security winning the Preakness if he goes, most likely with a more cautious or possibly a new jockey.
I cannot see Country House winning the Preakness, but he is a very good Belmont Stakes potential. Therefore, in my opinion, a Triple Crown winner doesn’t look promising this season.
